The Catcher in the Rye Questions

1) Holden was disagree all the time and mad. He was faking all the conversation.

2) When Dr.Thurmer tells Holden that life is a game with rules, Holden "agree", when in his own mind it was telling the opposite. Holden was faking all the time; Dr.Thurmer tried to say that life put the rules and decide your destiny, and if you don't fllow them, life will punish you.

4) Holden left Elkton Hills because there where to much phonies, specially the headmaster.

5) Those statements tells me that Holden sometimes act in a very inmature way, like a 12 years old kid, when he was really 17. Also I can say that Holden normally acts like a dumb when he is really smart.

6) Holden characterize himself to tell us how good he is at lying, but at the same time how terrible it is. He lies about places he have to go or being agree in something. I think he lies to get oue ot uncomfortable situations.

7) What's ironic is that reading makes you learn very much, like expanding your vocabulary, understand literature, etc. What Holden says doesn't make sense, because it will be like at the moment of reading he doesn't make sure to understand what he's reading.

8) Holden's actitude in front of Ackley is disturbing, mad, angry, etc. He feels angry because Ackley can't shut up, he takes Holden's stuff and starts to examine them, a person that can't let you in peace.

9) Ackley describes Stradlater as a person who believe's he's smarter than anyone, that he's superior than anyone, in other words, sonuvabitch. But Holden describes it as a nice and friendly person - It could be that Holden describe it like that for being his roomate-.

10) Feeling sorry for someone is more like being sad fopr something or someone. Caring will be like taking importance or care about something, being worry for it.
